Is it time to get a new PC?

In today’s digital age, with more and more of us living our lives online – bet it for work or just for social reasons – we can’t live without our computers.

Imagine life before email.

Imagine life before social media.

Imagine life before Google.

See what we mean? You rely on your PC today, more than ever before.

As such, keeping on top of trends and owning a PC that doesn’t clunk and whirr is essential when speed is so key. All computer owners are faced with a tough question – “how do I know when it’s time to get a new PC?”

It’s certainly a tricky question to answer, because no two computer owners are the same. Some people are content with an antique PC so long as it gets the job done, while hardcore gamers for example rely on lightning-quick access to the internet and processing power that’s out of this world.

However, there are a few common reasons why you might need a new PC – so read on and get clued up.

Firstly, you know you need a new PC if it takes ages to load. Once you start her up, if you find it’s taking years to even get to the welcome screen, it’s a sure-fire sign your PC is struggling to cope. It could have too many programs installed, or it could be infected with a virus. If you’ve tried all you can to speed it up and it’s still taking an age, you’re gonna have to start looking at replacing it with a newer model.

This is also the case if you find your PC sounding like a plane taking off. All PCs will make a noise, that’s only natural – because it’s hot inside them towers. However, if your PC has turned into something akin to a jetplane, or you can hear squeaks or whirring, it could be about to bite the dust.

A noisy PC often goes hand-in-hand with slow and clunky performance. Constant freezing, or your programs taking an age to load is not only frustrating it’s a sign your PC is struggling to keep up. Another problem is the “blue screen of death” – another common sign you might need to wave goodbye to your friend.

Finally, you know you’ll need a new PC if all the little things aren’t working like they should. Crackly laptop speakers, continual error boxes or a monitor which isn’t either as bright as it once was or has lines appearing…. It’s time to get down the PC store.

So there you have it, a few common reasons as to why you may need to replace your PC with a newer model. It may be hard waving goodbye and you may resent having to splash the cash – but it’ll be worth it in the long-run.
