Restore Your Lost Computer Files | Recovery Software

Restore Your Lost Files…

We have all made the mistake of deleting a file we needed at one time or another, the feeling in the pit of your stomach is sickening as you feel that you will never get the file you need back again. The truth is, there are ways to recover that file you just accidentally deleted…it may not be gone forever.

When you first delete a file it will go into your recycle bin and in most cases will be retrievable. If you delete a file that you feel you may need or your system is telling you that it is needed to function properly, go to the recycle bin and see if it is there before you panic. If your file is there you can hit the restore file button after highlighting it and it will be sent back to where it came from.

If you have already emptied your recycle bin before realizing that you needed the file you may still be able to recover it. Many times you delete a file and it never goes to the recycle bin at all, just seems to disappear out of thin air, those can be retrieved as well in some circumstances.

The first thing you need to do when you realize you have deleted a file that you may need is stop using your computer. The reason is that those sectors of your hard drive that the deleted files are stored in can be overwritten if you continue to use your system. You need to find recovery software and download the program and start working towards recovering those lost files before you do anything else.

Do not run a disk defragmentation and if you have one scheduled, stop it. The disk defragmentation is designed to wipe clean all of the unused or unneeded fragments of your hard drive and deleted files are a big part of the clean up process. Once you have wiped the areas clean that stored your deleted files there will be no way to retrieve them.

Run the recovery software and allow it to find the files that you were missing. You can search by date or by file name to find what you need and once it is retrieved you can hit the restore button and allow the program to place the file back where it was before you deleted it.

There is no guarantee that the system recovery will work, there are times that the files are corrupt and lost for good. In many cases you will experience success with the system recovery program and will be able to get your lost files back without any frustration. Just be sure that you follow the rules about not defragmenting your hard drive and do not continue to use your computer for anything other than the recovery process until you have the files you need back on your hard drive.
