Windows 10 Will Soon Be The Last Upgrade You Will Ever Make

There are so many of us out there that totally hate the new Windows 8 that was released just a couple short years ago. This operating system has been one of the worst releaseswindows-10 since Windows ME. As a result, many folks are holding on to their Vista, Windows 7 and even XP computers. This has caused a slowdown in the purchase of new computer systems. Many computer buyers are buying online instead of at the retail stores because that is the only place you can still get Windows 7 systems. Well, if all goes well that will all be changing next year.

One of the biggest complaints about Windows 8 is the confusing interface that makes it very difficult to do certain tasks. In addition, the constantly running processes that fuel the apps will tend to slow down the operating system. I have yet to see a snappy computer that is running Windows 8. Windows 10 will have a better separation between the two. The OS will be able to detect whether you running on a mouse and keyboard PC or a mobile touch screen device. When running on a conventional PC, your computer will start up just like Windows 7 and yes, there will be a START menu. It will be an updated one but at least you will have some of the comforts of home.

Many of us know that having multiple monitors hooked up to your system can be a real lifesaver. It allows you to work more efficiently and get lots of stuff done. The multiple screens allow you to have something open on one screen and have another window open on the other screen. You can then read on one screen and write on the other or copy and paste information from one screen to another. With Windows 10, you will not need 2 screens to work efficiently. The new OS will allow you to have more then one desktop environment open at the same time. They call it a virtual desktop. This is similar to having 2 monitors without actually having them. This will be a very useful tool for many Windows users. I still recommend the dual screens if it is at all possible.

There is another scenario that gets most Windows users up in arms. In the past, you would get a shiny new computer with the latest operating system only to find out a couple years later that the OS you are using is being replaced by another version and yours will no longer be supported. Well with Windows 10, this should be the last version you will have to buy. According to sources, the new OS will be upgraded in small increments, kind of like Firefox or your anti-virus software. There should not be a Windows 11 and then 12 etc. In other words, your next computer might actually last as long as the operating system.

Folks are tired of throwing away good computers just because Microsoft stops supporting older software. Just a side note, if you are still using XP, we have actually noted less virus activity on these machines then in some of the newer models. We have also found that although a software or hardware component does not list XP on the box anymore, it does not mean that it will not work. We have found that to be the contrary. Almost everything we tested has been working on XP just fine. If you have not yet upgraded and your machine is running good, I would wait till Windows 10 is released sometime next year.

If you currently have a Windows 7 or Windows 8 computer, Windows 10 should run just fine on these devices. The new OS is designed to effectively use much of the existing hardware that is now already is use. This is great news especially if you already have a relatively new fast computer.

There is a free technical preview that is already out there but using it is not for the faint of heart. I would only recommend doing this if you have a spare machine that you are not using for anything else. The real deal will most likely be released sometime late next year, just in time for next years Christmas season.
