Windows 8 Fans Love Faster Boot

Windows 8 is hot and fresh out of the box and some people are really loving the new look. It is all part of the Microsoft strategy to conjure up a consumer buzz. Windows XP has been around for a long time. People saw a big change with Windows Vista, but most people didn’t really like Vista. They enjoyed the new look, but the Vista OS was sluggish. It took Windows 7 to revive consumers. It still looked a lot like Windows Vista, but it ran faster.

Microsoft had to master one thing to keep consumers holding on to Windows. This was speed. That is why the Windows 8 OS is built for speed. Consumers like it because it can boot very fast. This is what computers have to do know now that there are so many other portable devices threatening to completely kill the PC industry.

Similar to Smart Devices

The Windows 8 interface is quite similar to operating systems for smart phones and tablets that boot very fast. People are getting accustomed speed. They don’t want much less than a couple of seconds for the boot process. This is consumer demand that is becoming the new standard.

Solid state drives have also made it take a lot longer for computers to boot. All of these things have made it better for Microsoft. Windows 8 had the chance to be a better OS because there is better hardware in place to support it.

Upgrades Galore

In saying that Windows 8 is fast one must also realize that upgrades will be needed for consumers to benefit from this increase in speed. Everyone knows that Windows 8 is faster, but just like Windows 7 there will be a need for at least 1 GB or RAM. Technically, people need more than a 1 GB to run Windows 8 efficiently. It will run on a gig, but it will not run at peak performance this way.

Lots of people were still holding on to Windows XP because it was the most stable thing out there. A lot of school systems and hospitals still run Windows XP. Many people didn’t upgrade to Windows 7. It is time to move ahead though because Windows 8 is a leap into the future of computing. The interface is much like that of a Smartphone. No one can deny the speed, but there is a learning curve. It is not the easiest thing to master. This is something up a departure from what people are used to seeing.

Following the Leader

As time marches on it will only make sense for more software developers to follow the leader. Microsoft has been in the background thanks to the explosion of Apple. Smart devices everywhere have been running on the Apple iOS because it is simple and easy to use. This is great for iPads and iPhones, but in the PC world Microsoft still reigns. Windows 8 will inspire many others to follow.
