Do you think you have a Computer Virus? If so what are the Symptoms

What Are The Symptoms Of A Computer Virus.

Most of us have already experienced a computer virus at one time or another and for those who haven’t it is very likely that they will eventually. Even with the latest and greatest technology in Anti-virus software and firewall protection the threats are still there and your computer can still be at risk.

If you are concerned about your computer’s safety and want to understand more about viruses and how to detect them, read on and get to know the symptoms of a computer virus as well as how to treat them.

What Are The Symptoms Of A Computer Virus?

Sometimes the symptoms of a computer virus can be so minimal they can go unnoticed for quite some time, until they start doing some serious damage that is. The first thing you should look for is the speed of your computer, if you notice that your system begins to slow down or lockup while you are working on a program, browsing the internet or opening up applications then you should consider that a virus may be the culprit.

Your systems registry can be altered by a virus and this will cause you to begin having minor issues and ultimately lead to the major issues that may leave your system unusable.

Other signs of a computer virus are more noticeable such as error screens popping up when you try to open certain applications. The lock up followed by the Blue Screen of Death may also be a sign of a virus altering your systems configuration and the inability to open or use applications can be a huge sign that your system has been infected by a virus.

A virus can be used for many things on your system. It can be designed to alter your settings, destroy information or steal your personal or financial information from your computer or even just to steal your bandwidth from your network. In many cases a strong virus will eliminate your ability to update your antivirus software, install or remove any software from your computer and even prevent you from entering the systems safe mode or system restore features. In the worst case scenarios it will render your computer useless by altering the registry so you cannot restart the system once it crashes.

Treating And Preventing A Computer Virus

If you are trying to prevent a virus from entering your computer of course having updated Anti-Virus and firewall software is important but user safety is a must. Do not download items or visit un-trusted websites or e-mails. Be smart while you surf and always scan anything you intend to open, even from trusted sites and users.

If you already have a virus on your system you will need to get a good registry cleaner and anti-virus installed. If you are unable to use your system restore feature or your safe mode features on your system to recover your files you may end up having to format the system and reload, so back up your files on a regular basis just in case.
